Have you asked the question, "Is sun protection as necessary for adults as for children?" The answer is yes. In fact, it's equally necessary and important for everyone. You need to make sure that you and your loved ones are protected every time that you go outside and plan to be in the direct path of the sun's rays for more than a few minutes. No one is telling you that you need to apply sunscreen if you're going to the mailbox and back inside.
However, if you're planning on being outside in the sunlight for more than fifteen minutes, you need to apply a generous coat of sunscreen to yourself and those you love. Skin cancer is on the rise and it's taking our mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, friends and lovers at a startling rate. We crave the sun. It gives us a feeling of vitality and it nourishes our bodies.
Unfortunately, it also depletes our skin of important cell growth and breaks down healthy cells. It's hard to believe that something as wonderful as the sunshine can kill you. No one wants to hear people be so blunt about it but it's absolutely true. You don't have to be a leather faced skin worshiper to be in jeopardy of getting skin cancer, either.
Adults are more likely to neglect their own skin when it comes to the sun. They know to take good care of their children by covering them and applying sunscreen before they play outside or swim in the water but they tend to forget about their own skin.
Why this neglect? It's not intentional. Unfortunately, we grew up pretty much uneducated or undereducated when it came to sun safety. We went to the beaches and parks with our parents who would spend the day lying in the sun, soaking up the rays. Our parents might have put a little sunscreen on our noses or ears but for the most part, they thought our freckles were cute and found no need to cover us in sunscreen.
They meant no ill by it, they, too, simply did not know. It took decades of research to realize just how harmful the sun can be to our young and old skin. So when people ask "Is sun protection as necessary for adults as for children?" Make sure that you let them know that it absolutely is.
We can't change the past. We can't go back and turn back the clock and apply sunscreen to our younger skin now that we're old. We can, however, protect our skin from any further damage. Make sure to apply sunscreen to yourself and anyone you're with out in the sun.
Is sun protection as necessary for adults as for children? There is no question. Make sure you preserve your skin and stay healthy. You and your children deserve a beautiful day in the sun; just make sure that you're enjoying the sun safely and it will be completely fine.
